After preparing our beautiful earth for humans to live on, Jehovah set out the following decrees:
*He would make mankind in his image;
*Humans would expand the borders of paradise around the world, and fill the earth with righteous offspring; and
*Humans could not partake from the tree of the knowledge of good and bad.
Sounds simple enough compared to our chaotic world now, doesn't it?
God accomplished the first one himself, so in order for His original purpose for mankind to be fulfilled, only the last two needed to be heeded. Satan thus focused on the one that he could easily manipulate in order to upset God's purpose...the one that would show true obedience by man. By tempting Eve to disregard the command to not eat from the tree, Satan challenged God's right to rule over His own creation. So the question remains for all of us to carefully consider: Who has the right to rule?
Today's Challenge: After you decide your answer, ask yourself -->How do I show where I stand?
Make a list of how we can (or should) show where we stand. Ask yourself: How well am I doing? What do I need to improve on to show where I stand in this matter?
Use what you know from the Bible to support your answers.
Keep in mind that this concerns Jehovah's sovereignty, His right to rule over his own creations. This would include, of course, his own decisions on how this rulership would be organized.
(Genesis 3:1; Job 38:4; 1 Ch 29:11; Psalm 103:19; Daniel 7:13, 14; Matthew 26:63, 64)
Ultimately, this is a matter of the love that we have for our Creator and the appreciation of what he has given to us.
Do we love Jehovah enough to accept his sovereignty?
